GUEST FAQ

WELCOME TO OVC!

OVC IS THE PLACE TO BE, BECAUSE WE CARE.

WE ARE THE FAMILY PLACE IN THE SOUTH BAY.

If you are new to OVC or planning on joining us for a Sunday gathering, the following frequently asked questions should help you know what you can expect and navigate your visit. Our guest relations team, or what we like to call our First Impressions Team (FIT), will be waiting to welcome you and assist you in any way to help make your visit great.

While you're with us, don't forget to stop by our welcome station or information center to pick up your a free gift from OVC as our way of saying thank you for stopping by.

What is parking like?

San Diego - When you arrive at our campus, you will be greeted by welcoming volunteers welcoming you from your first turn in. Proceed to the front of our front parking lot in front of our light tower for our reserved special guest parking.

Chula Vista - Located in the heart of downtown Chula Vista, we have two convenient and dedicated parking lots to serve our commuters, one immediately to the south of our building and our larger parking lot immediately southwest of our building across Church Avenue. Of course, all of our OVC CV family is welcome to parallel park in the marked parking along our neighborhood streets.

Where should I go when I get there?

San Diego - We would love to meet you! You should see a blue tent right up front and center at the base of our light tower. Here you will meet a caring volunteer who will greet you, provide you with information about OVC and our ministries, and answer any questions you may have. If you would like, our guest relations team members will assist you in finding a seat for our gathering.

Chula Vista - When you arrive, we would love to greet you and welcome you to our campus. Look for the bright signs in front of our Worship Center on Church Avenue. Our friendly guest relations team will be there to welcome you and show you the ropes.

What is appropriate attire?

Well, hey. This is Southern California, right!?! We are a come as you are church, modesty in mind of course. So flip flops and shorts fit right in, but if you feel like dressing up a little, you will still feel right at home at OVC.

What does OVC believe?

This is one of the most important questions you can ask. Whether you are attending our San Diego campus, Chula Vista campus, or one of our gatherings in Español, we adhere to our statement of faith in all things. You can find more about what we believe by clicking here.

I have kids, where should I go?

We love families so much that we say we are the family place in the South Bay.

If you have kids from birth through 5th grade, head to the blue tent at the bottom of our light tower when you arrive and our guest relations team will assist you with check-in and walk you through the Sunday routine. We will want to get some basic information from you to start in order to make sure that your children are safe and well cared for during their visit. We will provide a security tag for your child, and one for you to use at pick up. If you have a middle or high schooler, Pipeline Students meet during our 9:00 AM gathering in the building we call "The Pier" at our San Diego Campus. If you are visiting during a gathering at a time other than 9 AM, your pre-teen or teen will feel right at home in our main worship gathering. Pipeline also meets up every Wednesday evening at 6:30 PM in the same location.

What kind of programming is there for my kids?

We have engaging, age appropriate programming no matter your child's age. Surf City Kids serves our infants through 5th grade kiddos and is offered during every gathering on Sundays and provides programming on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 PM all year long. Pipeline Students provides a relevant and Jesus-centered experience for students from 6th through 12th grades. Pipeline gathers on Sunday mornings at 9:00 AM and Wednesday evenings at 6:30 PM at our San Diego campus.

What should I expect during the worship gathering?

At OVC we celebrate the resurrection of our Savior every Sunday with modern and upbeat Spirit-led worship. Our Pastor then shares a passionate 30-or-so minute talk from the Bible and we wrap up with another song, baptisms, announcements, and sometimes even ice cream! All said and done, our gatherings are about an hour or so. If you don't have one, no sweat. We have Bibles in the seats if you need one.

How long is the service?

Our worship gatherings are about an hour to about an hour and 15 minutes depending on the week.

Will I be able to meet the Pastor?

All of our pastoral staff are always happy to greet our OVC family. The best way to spend quality time with Pastor Steve, or Pastor Logan, or Pastor Hugo, or Pastor Ray is to plan on attending Starting Point. At Starting Point you will get to know our Pastors and hear directly from them in a personal small group setting built around conversation and one-on-one connection.
